Pune, July 3, 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police have announced a temporary change in traffic movement in the Kalepadal traffic division to reduce congestion on the narrow stretch between Sayyadnagar Railway Gate and Shriram Chowk.

According to a press note issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pune City, the road connecting Wadkar Mala Chowk to the Railway Gate will now operate as a one-way route. The decision has been taken to improve traffic flow and enhance road safety in the area, where frequent traffic bottlenecks have been reported.

As per the revised traffic arrangement, vehicles travelling from the Railway Gate towards Wadkar Mala Chowk will be allowed to use the one-way road. Motorists travelling from Wadkar Mala Chowk towards the Railway Gate have been directed to take an alternate route via Shriram Chowk and rejoin the main road after turning right near the junction.

The Traffic Police clarified that emergency service vehicles, including fire brigade, police vehicles, and ambulances, will be exempt from the one-way restriction.

The order has been issued under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act by Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pune City. Citizens have been urged to use the designated alternate route and cooperate with traffic personnel and volunteers to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the area.
