Pune Traffic Police announces vehicle diversion for Camp and Deccan for Dec 31 and Jan 1

Pune: For the New Year’s Eve grand celebration changes will be made in traffic arrangements on 31st, Dec 2023, informed Pune Traffic Police.

As a large number of citizens expected to participate in New Year Celebrations in Pune Camp and Deccan Areas, the vehicular movement is changed for December 31, 2023 and January 1, 2024 . 

Details of arrangement and rules are given below:

In the Circular, Dated 29/12/2023, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Vijay Magar stated that for the new year eve on 31/12/2023, grand celebrations are planned on Mahatma Gandhi Road in the Lashkar (Camp) area of Pune, as well as on Fergusson College Road, where people visit these areas to ring in the new year. To avoid traffic congestion and streamline the vehicular traffic, certain temporary changes are being made.  

There will be following changes in traffic arrangements to manage the traffic flow as per orders issued by Vijaykumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, effective from 31/12/2023 at 17:00 hrs to the conclusion of the celebration:

Mahatma Gandhi Road, Lashkar (Camp) Area
1. Traffic from Y Junction to Mahatma Gandhi Road will be closed at 15 August chowk and will be diverted towards Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.
2. From Iskcon Mandir to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue, Aurora towers the vehicular traffic will be closed.
3. From Volga chowk to Mohammad Rafi chowk, the traffic will be closed and shall be diverted straight to East Street road to Indira Gandhi chowk.
4. From Indira Gandhi chowk to Mahaveer Chowk the road shall remain closed for traffic and will be diverted to Indira Gandhi chowk to Lashkar police station chowk.
5. From Sarbatwala chowk to Mahaveer Chowk, the road will remain closed and shall be diverted to Taboot street.

Fergusson College and Jangli Maharaj Road Traffic Diversion for December 31, 2023

1. Fergusson College : From Kothrud and Karve Road, the vehicles coming from Khandojibaba chowk will be stopped and shall be diverted via Law College road, Prabhat road, Alka Talkies chowk.

2. Jangli Maharaj Road : Vehicles coming from Jangli Maharaj road to Khandojibaba chowk, Goodluck chowk, and other lanes to Fergusson college road will be closed at Jhansi Rani chowk as per situation, and will be diverted through Pune Municipal Corporation, Omkareshwar mandir and Shivaji road.

No Vehicle Zone in Pune – From December 31, 2023, 7 PM to January 1, 2024, 5 AM.

1. Fergusson Road from Goodluck Chowk to Fergusson College Main Gate.

2. M.G. Road 15 August Chowk to Hotel Aurora Tower.

On 31/12/2023, a special campaign will be conducted by the Traffic Branch for Drunk and Drive from 19:00 hrs to 05:00 hrs. 

During the current Drunk and Drive campaign, as a precaution against the spread of the COVID-19 virus, a single-use Blow Pipe (Plastic Pipe) will be used for each person. It is advisable for citizens not to consume alcohol and drive during this time.

These orders have been issued since, there is a possibility of traffic congestion in Pune Camp and Deccan areas.
