Pune, November 5, 2025 — The Pune City Traffic Police launched a rigorous enforcement drive at Swargate Chowk on Monday, targeting rampant violations of traffic regulations by auto-rickshaw and other vehicle drivers. The drive was conducted under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and led by Senior Police Inspector Khirsagar along with the SwarGate Traffic Branch team.
During the operation, officials penalised 324 motorists for flouting traffic norms. The violations ranged from signal jumping and unauthorized parking to refusal of fare and operating vehicles through no-entry zones.
Among the offenders, 78 rickshaw drivers were fined for not wearing uniforms, and 97 were caught carrying excess passengers. Additionally, 46 cases of signal jumping, 10 instances of no-entry violations, and 16 cases of ignoring police warnings were reported. Five motorists were also fined for missing documents, while another five were penalised for using fancy number plates.
The traffic police emphasized that such drives are part of ongoing efforts to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhance road safety in the city. Authorities have urged citizens to follow traffic rules, cooperate with law enforcement, and contribute to maintaining discipline on Pune’s busy roads.
“Every citizen’s cooperation is vital for creating a safe and orderly traffic environment,” a traffic official said, reinforcing the message of responsible driving and civic responsibility.
