Pune Traffic Police Penalise 167 Drunk Drivers In Three-Day Special Drive
Pune | December 15, 2025: The Pune City Traffic Police conducted a three-day special enforcement drive against drunken driving and took legal action against 167 motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to an official press note issued by the Pune City Traffic Department, the special campaign was carried out from December 12 to December 14, 2025. During this period, traffic police teams set up 30 checkpoints at various locations across the city and conducted intensive vehicle checks.
As part of the operation, drivers suspected of consuming alcohol were tested, and 167 vehicle users were booked for drunken driving. The offenders were penalised under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, and further legal procedures were initiated against them.
The Pune City Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to refrain from driving after consuming alcohol, stating that drunken driving is a serious offence that significantly increases the risk of road accidents. Motorists have been urged to strictly follow traffic rules to ensure their own safety as well as that of others.
The traffic department reiterated its commitment to maintaining road safety and stated that such enforcement drives will continue in the interest of public safety.
