Pune traffic police sends notices to shops, garages selling illegal modified silencers
Residents of Kalyani Nagar, Wadgaonsheri and even in other parts of the city heaved a sigh of relief when Pune traffic police started taking action against bikers using modified silencers as well as shops and garages selling such illegal modified silencers. Residents across the city have been raising this issue to Pune Traffic Police seeking permanent solution to the increasing problem.
A resident of Wadgaon Sheri informed Pune Pulse, “This is a much needed step as residents have been constantly complaining that these bikers disturb their sleep, increase blood pressure and heart rate when they pass nearby. This will create awareness in Punekars and help reduce noise pollution.”
“Kalyani nagar societies Kumar Sophronia, Kumar Kruti and Marigold had already submitted to the Pune police in the month of January 2023. Team Swachh from Kalyaninagar is constantly in touch with Jairam Paigude of the traffic department, Yerwada traffic division appealing to take action against bike causing noise in Kalyani Nagar,” added the resident while speaking to Pune Pulse.
The residents of Kalyani Nagar & Wadgaon Sheri would like to thank DCP Vijay Magar, Pune police, Team Swachh KalyaniNagar Pune for taking drastic steps in creating a peaceful neighbourhood once again, he further added. But the residents demand a complete seizure of modified silencers and their seller shops.
When Pune Pulse spoke to Jayram Paigude from Yerwada traffic division, he informed that the drive has started last month and in the month of March, over 160 bikers have been penalised for using such modified silencers.
Pune Traffic Police tweeted stating that action was taken against motorists using such modified silencers by removing them on the spot. Also, a notice was also served to shops / garages selling modified silencers.
