Pune Traffic Police Takes Action Against 1,087 Illegal Auto-Rickshaws
Pune, November 28, 2025: The Pune City Traffic Department has launched a major enforcement drive to curb illegally operating auto-rickshaws in the city. A special team comprising one officer and four personnel was formed on November 10, 2025, to take action against autorickshaws violating transport regulations.
Between November 10 and November 26, the special squad initiated action against 1,087 auto-rickshaws operating illegally or violating traffic norms.
As per the department, the action taken under various categories includes:
Carrying excess passengers: 234 cases
No-parking violations (obstruction to traffic): 92 cases
Front seat violations: 36 cases
Driving without uniform: 424 cases
Not carrying required documents: 16 cases
Signal violations: 16 cases
Parking at unauthorized rickshaw stands: 38 cases
Wrong-side driving: 36 cases
Refusing fares: 138 cases
Other miscellaneous violations: 57 cases
The Pune Traffic Department has appealed to all auto-rickshaw drivers to strictly follow traffic regulations in order to reduce congestion and ensure the safety of commuters.
Drivers have been urged to:
Halt only at authorised rickshaw stands
Avoid illegal parking on roads
Follow signal and lane discipline
Treat passengers politely and honestly
Charge fares strictly as per the meter
The department stated that collective cooperation is key to achieving safe and disciplined traffic movement across Pune.
