Pune, March 20, 2026: The Pune City Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly possessing and selling cannabis in the Baner area, seizing drugs and materials worth over ₹8.7 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off received on March 16, a team from Baner Police Station laid a trap near Jupiter Hospital in Baner. Around 1:30 am, two suspects arrived at the location on a motorcycle. Upon spotting the police, they attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended by the team.

The accused were identified as Abhishek Bhika Borse (24) and Akshay Bhika Borse (29), both residents of Pimpri Chinchwad. A search of their belongings led to the recovery of 3.034 kg of ganja from a bag in their possession.

Following their arrest, a house search resulted in the seizure of an additional 13.088 kg of cannabis, along with an electronic weighing scale and packaging materials. In total, 16.122 kg of ganja and a motorcycle were confiscated.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway by police officials.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officers, including Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, with a dedicated team from Baner Police Station executing the raid.
