Pune: Two Injured After Speeding Truck Ploughs Into Multiple Vehicles Near Navale Bridge
Pune witnessed yet another frightening road mishap early Tuesday morning when a speeding truck went out of control and crashed into several vehicles near the Navale Bridge. The accident, which occurred around 5 a.m., left two people injured and caused major damage to three vehicles, briefly bringing traffic to a halt in the busy area.
According to the Sinhagad Road Police, the truck—loaded with floor tiles and travelling from Katraj Chowk towards the Navale Flyover—lost control midway. In a matter of seconds, the vehicle rammed into a ready-mix dumper truck and two cars ahead of it. The collision was so forceful that the cars were pushed several feet forward before coming to a stop in the middle of the road, leaving commuters shocked.
The driver of the truck, identified as Taufiq Israr Ahmed (32), originally from Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody soon after the crash. Police teams reached the spot promptly to manage the chaos, using cranes to remove the damaged vehicles and restore the flow of traffic. Fortunately, despite the intensity of the impact, no fatalities were reported. Both injured drivers were given medical attention for minor injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed or possible brake failure could have led to the mishap. Officials have registered a case and begun a detailed inquiry to determine the exact reason behind the loss of control.

A video of the accident has also surfaced on social media, showing the truck hurtling forward and smashing into the vehicles in quick succession — a scene that sparked panic among other motorists and bystanders.
Residents in the area noted that this stretch near Navale Bridge has seen several such accidents in the past. The combination of heavy traffic, steep slopes, and the narrow road layout has earned it an unfortunate reputation as one of Pune’s ‘black spots’ for road mishaps. While traffic was disrupted for some time after the collision, quick action by the police helped clear the route and prevent further congestion.
