Pune: Two Yerawada Police Officers Dismissed For Mishandling Porsche Crash Investigation
Pune, December 11, 2025: Two police officers suspended in connection with lapses during the probe into the 2024 Porsche crash in Kalyani Nagar have now been permanently removed from service, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed on Wednesday.
The case stems from the fatal accident on May 19, 2024, when a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old allegedly under the influence of alcohol crashed into a motorcycle, killing two young IT professionals. The incident triggered widespread public outcry over police conduct, political interference, and alleged attempts to manipulate evidence.
According to officials, Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector (API) Vishwanath Todkariāboth attached to the Yerawada police stationāwere found guilty of negligence, delayed reporting, and failure to follow proper procedures during the initial stages of the investigation. A departmental proposal to dismiss them had been forwarded to the state home department earlier this year, which has now approved the action.
An internal probe highlighted serious shortcomings, including delays in registering the offence and in collecting the minor driverās blood sample. Police noted that the sample was taken around 11 am, several hours after the accident, raising concerns about accuracy. Investigators later uncovered evidence suggesting the boyās blood sample had been swapped with his motherās, leading to the arrest of several individuals.
The juvenile driver was subsequently released from the observation home, while his mother is currently out on bail.
Meanwhile, the crackdown on evidence tampering continues. Nine individualsāincluding the teenās father, Sassoon Hospital doctors Ajay Tawre and Shreehari Halnor, staffer Atul Ghatkamble, two middlemen, and three others identified as Aditya Avinash Sood, Ashish Mittal, and Arun Kumar Singhāremain in custody for their alleged roles in replacing the blood samples.
The dismissal of the two Yerawada officers marks one of the most decisive disciplinary actions in the case, which exposed deep-rooted procedural failures and raised questions about accountability within the police system.
