Undri, 27 November 2025: Residents of Undri have raised strong objections to three allegedly illegal Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) plants operating behind Autadewadi Lake, claiming the units are functioning without the mandatory environmental permissions and severely affecting the locality’s air quality and noise levels.

Locals report that the plants run round the clock, with heavy trucks entering and exiting the site every few minutes. This, they say, has resulted in continuous dust pollution, loud machinery noise, and rapid deterioration of internal roads. The stretch leading toward Tata Inora has reportedly suffered significant damage, making regular travel increasingly difficult. Dust levels have become so intense that many residents avoid stepping onto balconies and are forced to keep windows closed throughout the day.

Anand Manaktala, a senior IT professional and local resident, told Pune Pulse, “These RMC plants are entirely unauthorized and lack environmental clearance. Their operations are degrading the environment, destroying public roads, and disrupting peaceful living. We urge the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and the National Green Tribunal to take strict action.”

Despite repeated complaints, residents allege that authorities have not responded effectively. They are now demanding a thorough inspection and immediate closure of the illegal units, calling for intervention from the Pollution Control Board and the NGT on priority.

Locals also fear long-term ecological damage to Autadewadi Lake, an important natural water body in the region, if the plants continue to operate unchecked. Citizens are appealing to civic agencies to take firm action against the operators, repair the damaged roads, and restore a clean, safe environment for thousands of Undri residents.
