The ‘Vidyapeeth Katta’ initiative was launched two years ago by a group of university alumni who aimed to provide free academic guidance to students preparing for competitive examinations such as SET, NET and PhD eligibility tests. The event also marked the completion of two years of the initiative.

Speaking at the programme, Shantanu Lamdhade said the National Education Policy encourages students to develop research skills along with academic knowledge. He noted that initiatives offering free guidance for SET, NET and PhD entrance examinations are important in helping students pursue careers in higher education and research.

Ravindra Shinganapurkar also advised successful candidates to prepare for the evolving education landscape. He highlighted that teaching methods are rapidly changing and educators must adopt innovative approaches beyond traditional classroom models to better equip students.

171 Students Qualified in Two Years

Over the past two years, ‘Vidyapeeth Katta’ has organised preparation programmes for four NET examinations and two SET examinations through free expert lectures and guidance sessions. So far, 23 students have cleared NET, 70 have passed SET and 78 have qualified the PhD Eligibility Test (PET). Students from Pune and nearby districts have benefited from the programme.

Savita Ghogare, who cleared the SET examination in 2025, said preparing for competitive exams while managing household responsibilities is challenging for homemakers. She added that the guidance, practice sessions and in-depth subject preparation offered by ‘Vidyapeeth Katta’ played a significant role in her success.
