On 8 February 2024, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) appealed to the passengers about use of mobile headphones while travelling. Failing to adopt the rule, will face legal action.

According to the appeal, passengers are prohibited from listening, watching audio/video and talking on mobile phones without headphones/earphones in Pune Metropolitan Transport Corporation Buses. At present the transportation corporation operates an average of 1785 buses on 396 bus routes daily and carries an average of 1.3 lakh passengers daily. However, the corporation has received complaints from passengers that the other passengers on the bus are causing undue disturbance due to loud noise while watching audio/video without headphones/earphones.

In the view of complaints received, the administration has now advised passengers to use headphones/earphones.

It is however important to note that the passengers are not supposed to use headphones while buying tickets from the conductor.
PMPML has appealed to the passengers to take note that in case of violation of the said rules action will be taken as per Section 38/112 of the Mumbai Police Act.
This initiative will give privacy to every passenger on the bus and will cause less nuisance and disturbance.
