Pune: Wakad's Apostrophe Society Khel Mahotsav Unites Generations In Third Biennial Sports Extravaganza
Pune, December 4, 2025: The spirit of sportsmanship and community is in full swing at the Apostrophe Society in Wakad as the third edition of its biennial Apostrophe Khel Mahotsav (AKM 3.0) kicked off last weekend. The multi-weekend sporting festival, organized by residents for residents, has drawn an overwhelming participation of around 250 individuals, ranging from enthusiastic 4-year-olds to spirited 84-year-old seniors.
Marking its successful return after two years, AKM 3.0 is a testament to the society’s commitment to health, unity, and active living. The event spans three action-packed weekends and features over 60 sporting disciplines.
The lineup includes individual competitions such as Marathon, Cycling, Swimming, Badminton, Table Tennis, alongside popular team sports like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, and Basketball.

“The opening ceremony was held last weekend, and events for young children and a marathon for seniors have already taken place,” said Rupesh Deshmukh, Secretary and Sports Committee Founder of Apostrophe Society. “This is the third edition of AKM, which we organize every alternate year. Events that can be hosted within the society are held here, while others, like badminton, are conducted at booked external venues.”
More than just a tournament, AKM serves as a vital platform for community bonding and promoting a fit lifestyle. “It is a community and social gathering, bringing all society members together and creating awareness about fitness in today’s world,” Deshmukh explained. “It also provides a competitive platform for children, sparks their interest in sports, and helps build and boost their confidence.”
By seamlessly blending friendly competition with collective celebration, the Apostrophe Khel Mahotsav continues to strengthen neighbourhood ties and foster a culture of health and happiness, proving that sports remain a powerful force for unity across all ages.
