Pune: Wall Collapses At Shivarkar Garden In Wanowrie After Heavy Rain, Urgent Repairs Ordered
Pune, April 2, 2026: Heavy rainfall in the Wanowrie area led to the collapse of a protective wall at the Late Vitthalrao Shivarkar Garden, raising safety concerns among local residents. The incident occurred following intense showers that lashed the area, causing structural damage to the civic property.Taking note of the situation, local representative, son of local corporator Kalinda Punde, Adv. Mahesh Punde visited the site promptly to assess the damage. During his visit, he called officials from the concerned municipal department to inspect the affected area and evaluate the extent of the damage.
Officials were directed to take immediate action to restore the damaged wall and ensure that the repair work is carried out on priority. Emphasis was also laid on maintaining construction quality to prevent similar incidents in the future. Authorities have been instructed to complete the work swiftly to avoid inconvenience to citizens and ensure safety in and around the garden premises.
The collapse of the wall has sparked concerns about the condition of civic infrastructure, especially during the monsoon-like conditions being experienced unexpectedly. Residents in the area have urged the administration to conduct safety checks at other vulnerable locations to prevent such incidents.
Meanwhile, precautionary measures are being put in place to restrict access to the damaged area until it is fully secured.
