Pune Weather : Central Agro – Meteorological Observatory gets new building

The Ministry of Earth Sciences, India Meteorological Department (IMD), inaugurated the Central Agricultural Meteorological Observatory (CAgMO) on 25 April at the College of Agriculture Campus, Shivajinagar, Pune. The event was graced by Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, as well as other dignitaries including Dr. M. Mohapatra, Director General of IMD.

The CAgMO is a significant step towards enhancing agricultural meteorological services in India, aimed at providing accurate and timely weather information to farmers, researchers, and policymakers. The observatory will play a crucial role in supporting agricultural planning and decision-making, by providing weather forecasts, agro-advisories, and agromet services to the farming community.

The event was attended by other dignitaries, including Vishvajit Sahay, Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Earth Sciences; D. Senthil Pandiyan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences; Ranju Madan, Deputy Director General (Admin.), IMD; Dr. R. S. Mahesh Kumar, Programme Director (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences; Kapil Dev Meena, Director (Finance), IMD; K. S. Hosalikar, Head, IMD Pune, and other senior officers of the Ministry of Earth Sciences and IMD.

With the inauguration of the Central Agricultural Meteorological Observatory in Pune, the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the India Meteorological Department reaffirm their commitment to supporting the agricultural community through cutting-edge meteorological services and scientific research.
