Pune: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert warning for Pune district and the surrounding areas due to convective development in the atmosphere caused by inconsistent winds and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal. The day temperatures have also increased, adding to the concerns. The Yellow Alert is in effect for April 6, 7, and 8, with people being advised to avoid standing under trees during rainfall.

On April 7 and 8, the sky will remain cloudy with chances of light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. IMD has urged people to exercise caution and stay indoors during such weather conditions. The increased risk of lightning during thunderstorms poses a potential threat to public safety, and precautions should be taken accordingly.

Looking ahead, between April 9 and 10, the sky is expected to remain clear but may become cloudy in the afternoon or evening. Residents are advised to stay updated with the weather forecasts and be prepared for any changes in the weather conditions.

A Yellow Alert signifies that people should be cautious and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. It is important to follow the instructions and guidelines provided by the IMD.

● Do not take shelter under trees during thundery activity.

● Do not use mobile/unplug electronic appliances during period of lightning.

● Close windows and doors during period of strong wind.

● Avoid travelling during period of strong wind/lightning.
