Pune: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms in Pune, urging people to be watchful. Furthermore, a fresh Western disturbance is expected to bring isolated and scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity in the Western Himalayan Region from the night of 12 to 14 March, 2023. The wet spell is also likely to impact isolated areas of West, South, Central, and East India during 15th-17th March, 2023.

The probable reason behind this is the likely interaction of mid and upper tropospheric westerly trough/dronika rekha with lower level easterly winds over central-western parts of Peninsular India, which could result in very light to light rainfall in south India, east Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand during the aforementioned period.

The IMD has advised people to stay updated with their warnings and impact-based weather advisories and act accordingly. The sky is likely to be mostly clear, with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon/evening possibility. Additionally, there is a chance of thunder, lightning, and very light to light rain, and the skies are likely to remain mostly cloudy with minimum temperature recorded.
