Pune: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has made some predictions for the city of Pune and the state of Maharashtra. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to rise gradually by 2-4°C over the next three days in certain areas of Maharashtra, followed by a marginal fall for a couple of days.

In addition, a small cell has developed very close to Pune city today, which may result in some drizzle or trace rain. Starting from tomorrow, the activity is expected to increase in isolated areas of the state and Pune district from April 6-8.

The IMD has also released a visible satellite image, which shows convective development. The blue line on the image indicates a wind discontinuity line, and moisture incursion is expected from the Bay of Bengal, associated with high temperatures. This could result in local instability, known as “sthanik asthirata”, which is expected to continue for the next couple of days, starting from tomorrow.

People are advised to take precautions to protect themselves from the heat and to stay safe also during any rain or thunderstorm activity.
