Pune weather news : IMD predicts warmer days ahead

Pune city might experience change in weather over the next few days. 
The Indian Meteorological Department, Pune has issued an advisory stating that another active Western Disturbance is now seen as an upper air cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan & neighbourhood with trough aloft along Longitude 64°E to the north of Latitude 26°N. It’s very likely to move slowly eastwards & with high moisture feeding from Arabian Sea into western Himalayan region during 23rd to 27th January, 2023.

Impact over Maharashtra : 
An increase in cloud amount in parts of north-central Maharashtra during this period due to the interaction between southerly winds that are coming from the Bay of Bengal via southern peninsula & cold, moist northerly winds that comes from the colder regions of north India are likely during 24/25 -28 January. The interaction is likely to occur over areas of Madhya Pradesh , south-west/south M.P. , north of Maharashtra & slowly it is likely to move eastward in succeeding days, resulting in an increase in cloud amount during the period over north-central parts of our State from January 24/25 till 28.

Very light to light rain also cannot be ruled out, especially in areas of Vidarbha, north Madhya Maharashtra and north Marathwada during that period.

At the same time, while minimum temperatures would show an increasing tendency, the daytime temperatures are likely to fall in the coming days because cloudy skies will prevent the penetration of sun rays towards the earth’s surface. No single digit temperatures are expected in Maharashtra till end of this month. 


Due to the change in the weather, light/moderate scattered to widespread rainfall/snowfall over western Himalayan region during 23 – 27 January with its peak intensity during 24 to 26 January, 2023 can be experienced. Isolated hailstorm also likely over Himachal Pradesh on 23 & 24, Uttarakhand on 24 & 25; over Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh on 24th January, 2023. Light isolated rainfall likely over Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh on 23 & increase thereafter over the area with scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm activity during 24th-27th (even over Delhi) .


Light isolated to scattered rainfall/thundershower is likely over north Rajasthan ,Madhya Pradesh during 25 – 27 January.
