Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has warned of rain in Marathwada and Vidarbha on 25th and 26th. Western Cyclone has become active over North India. Heavy snowfall is going on in Kashmir.

Due to both these reasons, the cold wave is becoming active in Maharashtra as well. Weather department has predicted that hot weather during the day and cold in the morning and night will continue till February 28. The lowest temperature was recorded in Pune district on Friday morning. Shirur’s mercury dropped to 9.3 degrees, while that of the NDA area dropped to 11.8 degrees.

Shirur 9.3 degrees, NDA 11.8 degrees, Malin 10.5 degrees, Lavasa 12.6 degrees, Ambegaon 13.6 degrees, Rajgurunagar 12.5 degrees, Lonavala 13.7 degrees, Talegaon 16.8 degrees, Narayangaon 11.8 degrees, Shivajinagar 12.8 degrees.

As per further information from the X handle of Anupam Kashyapi, Head, Weather Forecasting Division, IMD Pune, said “Under the influence a fresh WD seen as a trough, isolated light rain or snow is very likely over the western Himalayan region from 23-25 Feb. As a result, thunder, lightning, rain with gusty winds is very likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh on 26-27.”

There has also been a decrease in minimums in other cities where IMD regularly tracks temperature trends. A minimum temperature of 13.9°C was recorded in Lohegaon, Pune city, which is almost one degree below the seasonal average.

In addition, IMD predictions indicate that until the end of the month, minimum temperatures in Shivajinagar are probably going to be between 11 and 12°C, while they might be between 13 and 14°C in Lohegaon.

According to an independent weather forecaster, dry north/northeasterly winds are occurring over portions of Maharashtra as a result of the post-western disturbance (WD) effect, which is resulting in clear skies. This lowers the temperature at night by allowing heat to escape from the Earth’s surface.
