The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune has once again issued rainfall warning in the state. According to the forecast of the weather department, there is a possibility of rain for the next two days starting from today in some parts of Madhya (Central) Maharashtra and Marathwada. 

As per further information from the X handle of Dr Anupam Kashyapi, Head, Weather Forecasting Division, IMD Pune “Rain/lightning/hail chance in Maharashtra. Due to trough or confluence of winds in central India, isolated light/moderate rain, thunder, lightning likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada & Vidarbha on 1-2 March 2024. Isolated hailstorm likely over Madhya Maharashtra on 1 March 2024; Marathwada on 1-2 March 2024; Vidarbha on 2 March 2024. Be watchful.”

In Pune, on 29th February 2024, the weather was predicted to be mainly of clear sky, from time to time partly cloudy sky, thundery activity, lightning likely, haze in morning hours. On 1st March 2024, the weather is predicted to be partly cloudy sky, thundery activity, lightning very likely, very light rain very likely, haze in morning hours. On 2nd March 2024, the weather is predicted to be partly cloudy sky, thundery activity, lightning very likely, very light rain very likely, haze in morning hours. On 3rd March 2024, the weather is predicted to be mainly clear skies. On 4th March 2024, the weather is predicted to be clear sky. On 5th March 2024, the weather is predicted to be clear sky. On 6th March 2024, the weather is predicted to be mainly clear skies.

There has been a big change in the weather in some parts of the state. Meanwhile, according to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, cloudy weather is visible in the city of Pune from this morning. Light rains occurred in some parts of the city in the morning. Rain lashed Hadapsar, Loni Kalbhor and Pune rural areas.

Due to the rising temperature in Madhya Maharashtra, there will be heavy rain with thunder in the next two to three days, while there is a possibility of hailstorm in some areas, the Pune Observatory has predicted. Hence, overcast conditions and rain-induced heatstroke will reduce in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Pune Observatory has predicted the possibility of light rain and hail in some parts in the afternoon in Pune city.

Due to increase in moisture from Bay of Bengal, lightning, heavy rain with gusty winds and hailstorm are likely to occur in most parts of Madhya Maharashtra including Konkan-Goa and some parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha in the next three to four days.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon districts of the state have been given yellow alert. While some parts of Pune, Satara, Jalna, Thane Raigad and Nandurbar districts are likely to experience thundershowers. Rain is expected in North Maharashtra today, and the weather department has predicted that there may be hailstorms at some places.
