Some areas of Pune saw haze early on Thursday morning, while isolated locations saw shallow fog.

According to a senior Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune official, the shallow fog in the morning was linked to high-level clouds, suggesting some moisture intrusion in and around Pune city.

As a result, they have issued a forecast for clear skies on Friday. On Thursday, there was shallow fog in places like Sus Road and Baner, and haze (a mixture of mist and dust particles) in other places.

The IMD official went on to say that there may be slight moisture incursion in some areas of Telangana and Vidarbha due to the trough that runs from south interior Karnataka to central Chhattisgarh, which could result in haze and shallow fog.

Generally, certain atmospheric conditions lead to the formation of shallow fog. It happens when a cooler surface comes into contact with moist air that is close to the ground.

When the ground cools down and the air near the surface cools down as well, shallow fog usually forms in the late night or early morning. When the temperature drops, it might approach its dew point, which causes water vapour to condense and fog to form.
