A woman was assaulted and verbally abused after asking a man to vacate a seat reserved for women on a PMPML bus. The incident took place on Saturday morning around 9:30 AM during the commute from Dighi to Bhosari.

According to the complaint filed by the 34-year-old woman at the Bhosari police station, the accused, Ankush Maruti Taware (48), a resident of Parandenagar, Dighi, has been booked for a non-cognizable offense.

The police report states that the woman requested Taware to vacate the reserved seat, leading to a heated argument. Taware allegedly used abusive language and physically assaulted her.

Despite the severity of the incident, Bhosari police only registered a non-cognizable offense. Dissatisfied with this response, the woman has also filed complaints with Rupali Chakankar, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore. She has demanded that a cognizable offense be registered and strict legal action be taken against the accused.
