Police investigations have uncovered a disturbing murder case from Pune’s Chakan area, where a 25-year-old man was allegedly killed by his lover with the help of her son and his friend after months of alleged abuse and harassment. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested all three accused and booked them for murder under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 103.

The victim has been identified as Munja Dhondiba Narhare (25). Those arrested include Usha Nanasaheb Chavan (40), her son Nikhil Nanasaheb Chavan (21), and Swapnil Narhari Pardhi. The crime took place on January 7, while the victim’s body was found four days later, on January 11, in the jurisdiction of Chakan South Police Station.

According to police officials, Usha Chavan and Narhare had been in a relationship for nearly six years. Over the past few months, however, the relationship reportedly turned violent. Narhare allegedly subjected Usha to repeated harassment and physical assault, leaving her distressed and fearful.

Unable to cope any longer, Usha reportedly confided in her son Nikhil, who works in Pune city. Police said Nikhil became furious after learning about his mother’s ordeal. He then involved his friend Swapnil Pardhi, and the trio allegedly devised a plan to kill Narhare.

On January 7, Usha allegedly called Narhare to meet her in Chakan. Later, Nikhil and Swapnil picked him up on a motorcycle and took him out for drinks. During the outing, the two men allegedly attacked Narhare with a chopper, killing him on the spot. In an attempt to prevent identification, they crushed his face with a stone and removed his mobile phone and identity documents before fleeing.

Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Maruti Jagtap said, “The murder occurred on January 7, but the body was discovered on January 11. Since the accused had removed all identification from the victim, establishing his identity was initially a major challenge.”

He added that the breakthrough came after sustained efforts by the Chakan South Police team under the guidance of Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam. CCTV footage from surrounding areas was examined, and workers from nearby industrial units were questioned. Crucial clues were found at the crime scene, including liquor bottles and cigarette butts.

“These items were traced back to a liquor shop in Kharabwadi,” Jagtap explained. “Records showed that three men had purchased alcohol around 6:00 am on January 7.” Further investigation led police to identify the motorcycle used in the crime, which belonged to Swapnil Pardhi.

Police have stated that the murder was premeditated and that the entire plan was allegedly orchestrated by Usha Chavan along with her son Nikhil. All three accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
