Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Could Launch In ‘This’ Month, Price Tipped Around Rs 2 Lakh

Leaks suggest Apple may finally enter the foldable phone market with a crease-free inner display, Touch ID return, and premium pricing.

Apple’s iPhone lineup in 2026 could look very different from previous years, with fresh leaks claiming that the company may finally launch its first-ever foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series.

While Apple has not officially confirmed any such device, multiple reports indicate that the long-rumoured “iPhone Fold” could debut in early September 2026, with a price expected to be close to Rs 2 lakh, placing it among the most expensive iPhones ever made.

New Design With Distinct Camera Strip

According to tipsters, the foldable iPhone may feature a design shift compared to existing models. One of the biggest changes could be in the rear camera module.

Instead of blending into the body colour, the iPhone Fold may come with an all-black horizontal camera strip, housing two cameras, a microphone, and flash. This would give the phone a noticeably different identity from Apple’s current lineup.

Leaks also suggest Apple may adjust button placement. The volume buttons could move to the top edge, similar to the iPad mini, while Touch ID is expected to make a comeback, possibly built into the power button.

A dedicated camera control button is also being rumoured, though its function remains unclear.

Display Sizes And Crease-Free Screen

The iPhone Fold is tipped to feature two displays:

A 7.8-inch inner OLED screen, reportedly crease-free
A 5.5-inch outer display for regular use when folded

Some reports also suggest the external screen could be around 5.3 inches, making the device wider than traditional iPhones, with proportions closer to the original iPad mini.

Interestingly, the foldable iPhone may not include the Dynamic Island, with Apple instead opting for Touch ID to maximise screen space.

Powerful Hardware And Camera Setup

On the performance front, leaks claim the iPhone Fold will share many internals with the iPhone 18 Pro models, including:

A20 Pro chipset
12GB RAM
Apple C2 modem

In the camera department, the foldable iPhone could feature two 48MP rear cameras, along with dual selfie cameras — one on the outer screen and another on the inner display — enabling photography in both folded and unfolded modes.

The device is also rumoured to pack a 5,500mAh battery, which would be a major upgrade for Apple’s flagship lineup.

Expected Launch Timeline

If current reports prove accurate, Apple could unveil the iPhone Fold between September 3 and September 9, 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

With premium pricing, a new form factor, and major design changes, Apple’s first foldable phone could mark one of the biggest shifts in iPhone history.
