Pune: Woman Suspected Of Child Kidnapping Attempt Detained By Residents In Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pune, May 6, 2026: In a concerning incident reported from the Kalbhor Nagar area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, a woman suspected of attempting to abduct a child was caught by local residents and later handed over to the police.
According to initial information, alert citizens intervened after noticing suspicious behaviour and detained the woman before any harm could occur. During the incident, the crowd reportedly confronted and restrained her before informing the police.
A search of her bag allegedly revealed a knife, a sedative substance, and a spray, raising further suspicion about her intent. She was subsequently taken into custody by Pimpri police for further questioning.
Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the alleged attempt and are also probing whether the woman was acting alone or part of a larger group.
The incident has once again raised concerns about child safety in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, prompting calls for increased vigilance among residents.
