After more than a month of carrying out repairs, the Yashwantrao Chavan bridge, near Poona Hospital off Lal Bahadur Shastri Road and Karve Road near the Savarkar Memorial, the work still remains incomplete. It might reopen for traffic the following week.

Though municipal officials stated that concrete work would require an additional three to four days, it was anticipated to reopen on Friday.

It was discovered earlier, during a technical survey, that the bearings were not operating correctly.

According to the officials, the majority of the work is complete, with the exception of the concrete work. The bridge is safe for cars to drive on, according to the most recent inspections, and it will reopen next week after consulting with the city’s traffic police. However, regular commuters in the region suggested that PMC make sure that vehicles are prohibited from using the Yashwantrao Chavan bridge and that only two-wheelers are permitted.

In January 2024, the Yashavantrao Chavan bridge, which links Karve Road and Shastri Road close to Poona Hospital, was closed due to strengthening and repair work –
