Pune Zilla Parishad Unveils ‘Mee Fit, Majhi Shala Fit’ Drive For School Fitness
Pune Zilla Parishad School Wins Community Choice Award At Global World's Best Schools Recognition
Pune, September 4, 2025: The Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) has launched a new campaign titled ‘Mee Fit, Majhi Shala Fit’ (I am Fit, My School is Fit) to promote health and wellness among students and teachers across the district’s ZP and government schools.
The initiative will cover 196 schools, where more than 8,000 students and 1,000 teachers will undergo mobile-based fitness evaluations. Remaining students in the district will be checked through routine health screenings conducted by government doctors. The tests are designed to measure core stability, body strength, balance, and overall fitness, and can be carried out without special equipment.
A mobile application linked to the programme will create customised fitness schedules and dietary advice for each participant. Progress will be monitored through quarterly reviews and yearly assessments. Teachers will receive additional guidance on posture correction, stress relief, and preventive health measures.
To further strengthen the campaign, ZP will introduce open-air gyms, improved playgrounds, sports events, and fitness challenges within schools. Institutions meeting the set standards will be recognised with Fit India certification.
ZP CEO Gajanan Patil emphasised that the initiative aims to instill lifelong habits of fitness and bring rural schools in line with modern health benchmarks.
