Pune’s 83-Km Inner Ring Road Project: Land Acquisition Begins, 25% Bonus for Voluntary Surrender

Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated the land acquisition process for the ambitious 83-km inner ring road project, which is estimated to cost ₹14,200 crore.
Land Acquisition and Compensation
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudy announced that landowners who voluntarily surrender their land under the Land Acquisition Act will receive a 25% bonus. The acquisition process for the first and second phases is expected to be completed by May.
Project Scope and Features
The inner ring road will be Pune district’s second ring road, following the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited’s (MSRDC) outer ring road. It will cover 44 villages across Khed, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval talukas, requiring a total of 743.41 hectares of land.
Key infrastructure components of the project include:
- 42 connecting roads
- 17 bridges
- 10 tunnels
- A dedicated 5-meter-wide metro rail corridor
Phase 1 Focus: Reducing Ahmednagar Road Traffic
The first phase of the project, extending from Solu to Wadgaon Shinde, aims to ease congestion on Ahmednagar Road. The entire ring road will facilitate connectivity between Pune-Satara Road and Ahmednagar Road.
The inner ring road project is expected to significantly improve traffic movement and urban connectivity in the Pune Metropolitan Region.
