Pune’s Dagdusheth Temple Draws Huge Crowds, Jams Roads on New Year
Thousands of devotees visited the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple on the first day of 2025, leading to massive traffic jams across the city. The temple, adorned with flowers, hosted several religious programmes since morning, drawing large crowds throughout the day.
Major roads, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, Bajirao Road, Laxmi Road, and Kelkar Road, witnessed heavy congestion. The Pune traffic police had to close the stretch between Appa Balwant Chowk and Budhwar Chowk (Hutatma Chowk) to traffic to manage the situation.
Many devotees parked their vehicles on the riverbed road, resulting in long queues of cars. Internal lanes were also jam-packed with two-wheelers as people tried to reach the temple.
To control the chaos, additional traffic police personnel were deployed. However, the sheer number of devotees made it challenging to keep the traffic moving smoothly.
Apart from the Dagdusheth Temple, the Siddhivinayak Temple at Saras Baug and several other temples in Pune saw a significant influx of devotees.
Despite the traffic woes, the festive spirit remained high. Devotees flocked to the temples, offering prayers and seeking blessings for the new year.
The Pune traffic police have urged citizens to plan their visits carefully and use public transport wherever possible to avoid further congestion.
