In a significant weather event, Pune’s Shivajinagar area experienced an extraordinary amount of rainfall on Wednesday, setting a new record for September. On this day, the region shattered its previous 24-hour rainfall record, which had stood for 86 years. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that 131mm of rain fell, most of it occurring in a short period of less than three hours, from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

The final rainfall totals, calculated from 8:30 AM Wednesday to 8:30 AM Thursday, will be announced on Thursday morning and could exceed 132.3mm, which is the highest September rainfall recorded in Pune since 1938.
