Pune: Students at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) can have a breather as far as eating at the SPPU hostel is concerned as a Quality Control Committee has been constituted for food checks and more in the university.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rahul Sasane, a PhD student of SPPU said, “There were frequent incidents of finding worms, plastic and cockroaches in all food items in the university. Students were also protesting continuously on this. We, on behalf of the University Student Struggle Action Committee and other like-minded organizations, demanded the formation of a Quality Control Committee for the university mess. It has now succeeded. The university administration has constituted a quality control committee. I have got an opportunity to work as a member of this committee. As a member, I will strive to ensure that students get the most nutritious food and make decisions in the best interests of the students.”
A while ago, several students of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) held a protest against unhygienic food being served to students in the boys and girls’ hostel at the main building of the university with a major demand being of high-quality food in all food mess of Pune University.
