Rabid Dog Targets Children and Adults in Bhiwandi; Citizens Express Outrage

A harrowing incident has emerged from Bhiwandi, near Mumbai. In the Shantinagar area of Bhiwandi, a rabid dog attacked and injured 50 to 55 citizens, causing widespread panic and chaos at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Among the injured, a significant number are children.

The attack has led to severe criticism of the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation’s health department. This incident follows another alarming event just a day earlier in Bhiwandi’s Kamat Nagar, where 110 people were attacked by a dog. On the same day, the municipal corporation had claimed to set a record by administering the highest number of anti-rabies doses in a single day.

In Shantinagar, the rabid dog primarily targeted individuals aged 16 to 18. He bit them on their hands, legs, faces, and necks. The aftermath saw a massive influx of people at the IGM Hospital, and many of the injured are now being transferred to hospitals in Mumbai and Thane for further treatment.

Public Outcry:

– Citizens are outraged and demanding action from the municipal health authorities.

– Concerns have been raised about the effectiveness of the municipal corporation’s measures to control stray dog attacks.

The Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation is urged to take stringent actions to prevent further incidents. Authorities are advised to increase anti-rabies vaccinations and monitor stray dogs in the area.
