Raghu, the iconic Oscar winner baby elephant carved in Pune’s paddy field
The annual event of Paddy Art will present 2 images during this paddy crop is back in Pune’s Donje Phata area on Sinhagad road. The first image created by sowing seeds is of ‘Raghu’, the Oscar winner baby elephant. Raghu is the icon of loving relationship between wild animals and aborigins.
An engineer turned entrepreneur, Shrikant Ingalhalikar is known as an expert on the flora and fauna of Sahyadri mountains. Art lovers look forward to the paddy art every year. An author of a series of books titled ‘Flowers of Sahyadri’, Ingalhalikar is also known for his effort to practice ‘Paddy Art’, which is created in rich plantations.
This image can be seen from 10 to 20 August on the campus of Lexon factory near Donje phata on Sinhagad road. The second image made by planting rice saplings can be seen during Ganesh festival.
