PUNE: Rahul Gandhi, during his first speech after being reinstated as an MP, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being silent on Manipur. He was speaking in the Lok Sabha during the second day of the no-confidence motion.

Opposition parties, including the Congress, have strongly criticized the Modi government and taken a clear stance on the no-confidence motion. The opposition has condemned the Modi government for the incidents of violence and rape in Manipur.

During his speech, Gandhi questioned, “Why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi remaining silent on the ongoing incidents of violence and rape in Manipur? The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders seem to have no time to visit Manipur.” Gandhi further added, “We should put an end to violence, or we will continue to harm our beloved country.”

He further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is accused of disregarding the concerns of the people of Manipur and only listening to a selected group of individuals in the country. While the Indian Army could potentially bring about peace in Manipur swiftly, Modi is not making efforts to establish peace in Manipur. Drawing an analogy between Raavan and Modi, Gandhi said that it is important for Modi to keep in mind that Raavan was not defeated by Lord Ram but rather by his own arrogance. Similarly, Modi’s actions, including inciting violence in various states such as Haryana, are done intentionally.

Rahul Gandhi sternly warned Modi, stating that if he does not put an end to the violence, the people will not spare him. Moreover, in response to the Congress-led India alliance’s motion of no-confidence against his government, PM Modi reassured BJP MPs that they need not worry as they will emerge victorious in the debate on the motion. On August 10, PM Modi is supposed to address the Lok Sabha regarding the no-confidence motion.
