Raj Thackeray Praises Devendra Fadnavis, Extends Support To New Government
Mumbai, December 6, 2024 – With the formation of a new government in Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray, leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), has sparked discussions with his latest post. His congratulatory message for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has drawn attention as the political landscape of the state undergoes a significant shift.
In his statement, Thackeray wrote, “Today, my friend and BJP leader from Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, took the oath as Chief Minister for the third time. Congratulations to him. This opportunity should have come to him in 2019 itself, but circumstances in 2019 and later in 2022 prevented it. Nevertheless, this time, the people of Maharashtra have given an overwhelming majority not just to the alliance but to Mr. Fadnavis’s leadership. I hope he utilizes this mandate effectively for the benefit of the state, the Marathi people, and Marathi culture.”
Support and Vigilance Promised
Thackeray assured his party’s support for all positive initiatives by the new government. “For the next five years, my party and I will back any good initiatives by the government. However, if the government falters or takes the people for granted, we will not hesitate to highlight their mistakes, even if we are not currently in the legislature,” he stated. He extended his best wishes to Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with the future cabinet members.
A Struggle in Elections
The MNS had fielded candidates in 128 constituencies in the recent assembly elections but failed to secure a single seat. Despite this setback, Thackeray had expressed support for the ruling alliance during his election campaigns, indicating alignment with the leadership of the MahaYuti alliance.
Now, with the new government in place, Thackeray’s post reflects a blend of optimism and cautious oversight, signaling his party’s readiness to collaborate while maintaining its critical stance.
