Rajshri Deshpande Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis, Urges Women To Prioritise Early Screening
The actor says her cancer was detected early during a routine check-up and calls for greater awareness about regular health screenings among women.
Actor Rajshri Deshpande has revealed that she has been diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma, a Grade 1 breast cancer, sharing the news with her followers through an emotional social media post. The actor said the disease was detected early during a routine medical check-up, giving her a strong chance of recovery.
In her message, Rajshri explained that the diagnosis came after several medical tests and surgery. She said the experience was overwhelming but the support of her family and loved ones helped her stay strong through the difficult period. She added that the early detection played a crucial role in ensuring timely treatment.
The actor said she is now recovering well and is expected to return home soon after completing her treatment. She expressed gratitude to her doctors and the medical team who supported her throughout the process.
Rajshri also spoke openly about the stigma surrounding cancer and stressed that conversations around the disease should be normalised. She noted that many people still react with fear or sympathy when they hear the word cancer, even though medical advances today allow early diagnosis and effective treatment in many cases.
During conversations with friends after her diagnosis, the actor realised that several women around her had never undergone basic breast health screenings. This prompted her to emphasise the importance of regular medical check-ups, particularly for women above the age of 35.
She also raised concerns about access to screening facilities in rural areas. According to her, women in villages often remain busy with daily work and may not be able to spend long hours travelling for tests such as mammography, making awareness and accessibility equally important.
The actor now plans to use her experience to spread awareness about breast cancer and encourage women to prioritise preventive health care. She said awareness workshops on breast cancer will be organised in the coming weeks as part of her efforts to highlight the importance of early detection.
Sharing a message ahead of International Women’s Day, Rajshri suggested a meaningful way to support women’s health. She encouraged people to gift women in their lives essential medical screenings such as sonography, Pap smear tests and mammograms, saying preventive care can make a life-saving difference.
