In the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Monday (22nd January), Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the historic “pran pratishtha” ceremony. The consecration lasted only eighty-four seconds during the ‘mool muhurt’ (original time). PM Modi carried out the customs by taking off the 51-inch Lord Ram idol’s blindfold from behind and applying “kajal” using a gold stick. PM Modi entered the temple’s sanctum sanctorum while wearing a golden kurta & cream dhoti. He carried a silver umbrella on a red dupatta that was folded.
