29-year-old AC mechanic dies on the spot after out-of-control vehicle ploughs into roadside stall

A tragic accident in Pune’s Bavdhan area claimed the life of a pedestrian after a speeding car lost control and crashed into a roadside nira stall on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass on Saturday afternoon.

How The Accident Happened
The incident took place around 3 pm near the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), where a service road connects to the main bypass. According to police, the car was moving at high speed when the driver lost control. Instead of turning towards the bypass, the vehicle went straight and rammed into the nira stall, causing it to topple.

Victim Killed On The Spot
The impact of the crash was severe. The car hit 29-year-old Zahiruddin Kamaluddin Khan, who was standing a few metres away from the stall. He died on the spot. Khan, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was working as an air conditioner mechanic and was residing in Kondhwa.

Others Injured In The Crash
The stall owner, sustained leg injuries as she was inside the stall when the vehicle crashed into it. The driver, a 40-year-old software engineer from Bavdhan, also suffered head injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

Police Action Initiated
Police have registered a case against the driver under relevant sections for causing death by negligence and rash driving. Authorities are further investigating the incident to determine additional details.

The accident has once again raised concerns over speeding and safety on service roads in the city.
