Reliance Jio down: Jio Users Across India Face Major Network Outage, Over 10,000 Reports Recorded
On September 17, 2024, Jio users across India reported widespread network issues, with the tracking website Down Detector logging over 10,000 error reports by noon. Most users experienced ‘No Signal,’ while rival networks like Airtel, Vodafone, and BSNL appeared unaffected.
The first signs of trouble emerged at 10:13 AM, with only seven reports of network errors. By 11:13 AM, this had surged to 653, and by 12:18 PM, the number had skyrocketed to 10,367. Of these reports, 68% were related to a lack of signal, 18% were about mobile internet problems, and 14% were linked to JioFibre issues.
Social Media Flooded with Complaints
Frustrated Jio users turned to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice their concerns. Many reported an inability to make calls, send messages, or use mobile data. The hashtag ‘#JioDown’ quickly started trending as users expressed their frustration.
Some users also pointed out that even Jio’s recharge systems and portals were affected. One user tweeted, “Jio appears to be facing an outage. Even their recharge systems/portals are down.”
Another frustrated user wrote, “Pathetic network Jio! All we see is network outage. Why is there a frequent outage now? #JioDown.”
Several users directed their complaints to Jio’s official account, with one stating, “Writing to inform you that there is currently an outage affecting both Fiber and Jio SIM in Mumbai. The outage has been ongoing for over an hour, and I’m reaching out to inquire if anyone has started working to resolve the issue.”
Despite the widespread issue, no official statement from Jio had been released at the time.
