Pune: More than 50 hospitals in Pune have not renewed their licenses as per the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act, while 12 hospitals were found closed. The Pune Municipal Corporation’s health department has served notices to these hospitals to renew the license or after one month, the hospital’s licences will get suspended, warned PMC.

The PMC Health Department implemented a campaign to crack down hospitals which have not renewed their licenses as per the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act. This matter came to light after PMC began a survey according to the State Government’s guidelines to monitor hospitals.

Hospitals can renew their licenses by submitting the necessary documents to the health department. The Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act states that no nursing home shall be operated unless it is duly registered or its registration is duly renewed.

Dr Ashish Bharati, head of PMC Health Department said, “We issued notices to 50 hospitals to renew the licenses within 30 days or their licenses would get suspended. Few hospitals have been closed but there is a chance that they are operating from other locations, so ward of fices will search for these hospitals to verify facts and then further procedure will be done.”
