Due to changes in the environment, the number of patients with cold, fever, cough are increasing in the city. The city is witnessing rise in number of patients with viral pneumonia. 

Children are recovering quickly from it, while senior citizens and those with co-morbidities are taking longer to recover. Hence, it is very important to recognize the symptoms of pneumonia immediately and seek medical attention. 

25% rise in patients

Doctors predicted that viral diseases increased due to air pollution during Diwali. Also, the weather has been fluctuating for the past few days. Due to this, doctors said that the number of viral diseases have increased. Pneumonia patients are found every year in winter. However, this year, doctors have observed a 20 to 25 percent increase in pneumonia patients.

At present, most of the patients do not need to be admitted to a hospital. However, patients suffering from diabetes, heart disease, physical weight problems, senior citizens etc have to be admitted to a hospital for treatment and must remain cautious and seek immediate help from doctors. 

What are the Severe Symptoms?

·         Difficulty in breathing

·         Increased heart rate

·         Fever, cough, vomiting

·         Chest pain

·         Diarrhea

A senior doctor said that currently, there is an increase in the number of patients of viral pneumonia. However, the number of patients admitted to hospitals is low. 

Early recognition of the symptoms of pneumonia is very important for treatment. As a preventive measure, it is necessary to take vaccines for flu.
