National Film Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty has teamed up with director Sandeep Singh for a new project. Rishab will be playing the lead role in the historical drama “The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” which tells the story of the revered 17th-century Indian ruler, Shivaji Bhonsle. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh unveiled the first-look poster on Instagram, showcasing Rishab as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, holding a sword while standing on a rock with the Indian map in the background. Taran Adarsh captioned the post, “Rishab Shetty in & as ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’…Sandeep Singh to direct… National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty and director Sandeep Singh announce their first collaboration: The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.”

He also mentioned, “With a team of top-notch technicians from around the world, The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, January 21, 2027, over the Republic Day weekend, in multiple languages.”
Rishab Shetty expressed his enthusiasm about portraying Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a recent statement. He said, “The vision that Sandeep has for The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is so impressive that I immediately agreed to the role without hesitation. It is an indescribable honor to play such a significant figure. He is a national icon whose influence goes beyond history, and I take great pride in telling his story on screen.”
Director Sandeep Singh shared, “Rishab Shetty was my first and only choice for this role; he truly represents the strength, spirit, and bravery of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This film has been a dream of mine for many years, and I feel privileged to bring this story to life. Sandeep Singh started his career as a director with the ZEE5 original movie Safed (2023).
