Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player in IPL history after Lucknow Super Giants bought him for ₹27 crores at the IPL 2025 auction in Saudi Arabia. The wicketkeeper-batter’s move ends his nine-year association with Delhi Capitals, where he grew from a teenage talent to one of Indian cricket’s biggest stars.

Pant joined Delhi in 2016 and became a key figure in the Indian team, delivering memorable performances, including batting heroics in Australia and England and playing a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.

A car accident on December 30, 2022, sidelined him for 14 months, but Pant made a strong comeback in IPL 2024 and has been in stellar form since.

On Tuesday, Pant shared an emotional farewell on social media, thanking Delhi Capitals and their fans. “The journey with Delhi Capitals has been amazing. I came here as a teenager, and we grew together over nine years,” he wrote on X, along with a heartfelt video.

Pant expressed gratitude to fans who supported him through tough times. “As I move on, I carry your love in my heart. I’ll look forward to entertaining you whenever I take the field,” he added.

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal also penned an emotional note, calling Pant his “younger brother.” “You are family to me, and I’m sad to see you go. I hope we reunite someday,” Jindal wrote.

Pant’s record-breaking bid marks a new chapter in his career as he continues to shine in the cricketing world.
