Pune: On a recent flight, Indian Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma was taken aback by the polluted skyline of Mumbai. The star cricket player noticed that the city was covered in heavy smog while travelling there for a World Cup match against Sri Lanka.

As per further information, Rohit Sharma posted a story on Instagram which said “Mumbai, Yeh Kya Ho Gaya.”

Notably, Sharma was born and raised in Mumbai, where he has played cricket for most of his life. Throughout his first-class domestic career, he played for the Mumbai Ranji team. He currently captains the Mumbai Indians, a city-based franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The surprise Sharma felt upon seeing the Mumbai skyline coincides with a sharp decline in the city’s air quality index (AQI). The city has been experiencing AQI ranging from ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’ and ‘severe’ since the monsoon season ended. In recent days, there haven’t been many instances of “moderate” AQI recorded.

Air quality in Mumbai is deteriorating day by day. The Bombay High Court had recently taken serious note of this and asked questions to the center as well as the state government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) –

The Bombay High Court said that the increasing pollution in Mumbai is very alarming. Also, the Chief Justice filed a suo moto petition expressing concern about the deteriorating air quality.
