On April 22, 2024, individuals who played a significant role in the search for a missing girl were honored with a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh each.

The incident occurred a few days prior, on April 18, when a 12-year-old girl from Nanded City, Sinhagad Road, disappeared after leaving for school.

Concerned guardians promptly filed a complaint at the Sinhagad Road Police Station, Pune, under section 363, suspecting that she was abducted by an unknown individual for unknown reasons.

The girl’s photo and information were circulated on social media via various WhatsApp groups. The Commissioner of Police Pune City, Amitesh Kumar, understood the depth of this issue and personally allotted an experienced squad to find the child as soon as possible. 

During the process, it was found out that after eating vada pav at Kesnand Phata place, the minor went on foot toward Nagar Road. This information was verified by the Maharashtra Vadapav owner, Sambhaji Satav and Yuvraj Wankhede informed the police that she was in the vicinity of Mahaganpati temple in Ranjangaon. Eventually, the said daughter was found at Ranjangaon Mahaganapati Temple safely handed over to her parents.

Shivabhau Pasalkar and his friend searched for the girl in Wagholi, Pune by circulating the picture and information shared on the WhatsApp group Maharashtra State Missing Case Investigation. Further, the girl was spotted by Mr. Sharad Manjabapu Ghodke while returning to Pune from the bus.  He remembered the little girl from a Whatsapp status he’d seen of a friend, Prasad Kolhe who turned out to be the missing girl’s neighbour.

The Commissioner of Police, Pune City, awarded the above individuals a reward of Rs 1 lakh in recognition of their significant assistance in tracking down the missing girl. 

The Commissioner of Police, Pune City, Amitesh Kumar actively participated in the program. Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune City; Additional Commissioner of Police, Western Regional Division; and Shri. Pravin Pawar and Mr. Pravinkumar Patil were also present.
