RTO Pune Conducts Road Safety Awareness And Eye Check-up For Warkaris During Sant Dnyaneshwar Palkhi Procession
Pune, June 20, 2025: A special road safety awareness and public service initiative was carried out today by the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) during the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi ceremony.
Under the guidance of Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad, Deputy RTO Swapnil Bhosale, Assistant RTOs Amar Desai, Yuvraj Patil, Nandkishor Kale, and Rahul Jagdale, a series of activities were organised for the Warkaris and citizens participating in the procession.
As part of the programme:
1. Road safety awareness was conducted through spiritual discourses (kirtan) to reach the large pilgrim audience effectively.
2. A free eye check-up camp was organised in collaboration with Pune RTO and Dr. Dudhbhate Netralaya for Warkaris.
3. Biscuits were distributed to the pilgrims.
4. Reflective radium tapes were affixed to participating vehicles to enhance visibility and safety during travel.
5. Road safety awareness stickers were placed on vehicles.
6. A digital advertising van displayed road safety video clips to educate pilgrims and drivers throughout the procession.
The event saw the presence and support of key transport officers including Dhananjay Patil, Amruta Bhalshankar, Krushnat Bamanikar, Sagar Patil, Lakhankumar Jhunkhe, Deepa Tamhane, and Bhagyashree Patil.
This collaborative effort aimed to ensure both safety and well-being of the Warkaris, while spreading crucial awareness about responsible road practices during the religious journey.
