The residents of Sahyadri Park area off Salunke Vihar road have raised concerns about the encroachments caused by the shopkeepers near the area.

The residents recently met the building permission department official and apprised him of the increasing encroachments in the area.
Ankur Joshi from Sahyadri Park residents association said, “There have been several encroachments in the area for the past few months which are neglected by the civic authorities. They often cause nuisance to the society residents. We are hoping for some action now.”

Speaking to another resident of the area, Leena Kumar, she said, “There are eateries in our lane which have no parking space of their own. Lot of youngsters create nuisance due to the parking of vehicles visiting these eateries. In the last six months we have met the PMC officials twice and reported about the problems in our area. We are hoping for some concrete action now and shall not entertain any assurances. There are many illegal activities also happening near the Sahyadri Park garden area which needs to be curbed.”

Aditya Balhara, another resident of the area complained that the residents have been facing severe inconvenience due to the cafes, shops which have been running in an illegal way. They have encroached upon public space. There are miscreants partying outside the garden and when we raise our voice they have complained about us at the police station. We want both PMC and Police to take strict action and bring back peace in our society.”
Shramik Shevate from building and permission department when informed about the encroachments, he said, “The residents met me and handed over the complaint. I need to identify the cause of the establishment, their exact area of the shop. I shall survey the area and find out the exact encroachment and then take action.”
