PUNE: The District Legal Services Authority of Pune organized the National Lok Adalat with the primary objective of providing convenience to the general public and eliminating the need for them to travel to court in pursuit of justice. The adalat will be held on September 9 at Pune Traffic Police Office Headquarters at Yerwada.  

As per the information provided, this program exemplifies the phrase “justice at your doorstep.” On September 9, 2023, at 8:00 AM, the Lok Adalat, which aims to resolve pending cases involving traffic rule violations, is scheduled to take place at the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch Office, located near the Yerwada Post Office, Pune. The Lok Adalat at Traffic Police Headquarters will also offer a 50 percent off on the fines.

Since August 28, 2023, a “Helpdesk” has been operational at the Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Branch Office in Yerwada, Pune. Between August 28, 2023, and September 6, 2023, a total of 5877 drivers utilized this service to report their unpaid traffic violations and settle fines.

Citizens who arrive first at the Lok Adalat are given priority through the use of a token system, which ensures that their cases are handled immediately. The practice of providing citizens with a 50% discount on fines through the “Helpdesk,” as previously made possible by the Court, is continued by the Lok Adalat. This relief procedure covers all eligible cases in the National Lok Adalat.

National Lok Adalat At District and Sessions Court, Pune on September 9

Around 1.76 lakh cases will be heard before the National Lok Adalat that will be held at the district and sessions court in Shivaji Nagar on September 9. A total of 53,512 litigants, in compoundable criminal and civil cases, motor accident claims, cheque bounce and domestic violence cases will come at Lok Adalat. In addition, a total of 98,148 pre0litigation cases and 25,000 traffic violation cases will be heard too. But the number of cases may increase to seek early settlement of the cases. Seventy five panels have been setup where litigants can settle their disputes. Over 200 law students will assist in the Lok Adalat.
