After a nine-month hiatus, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has released a fresh advertisement for the recruitment of 111 vacant teaching positions across various departments. This significant move aims to revitalize the university’s academic excellence, which has been strained due to the large number of vacancies.

The recruitment process, which was stalled due to technical difficulties and changes in reservation policies, is now set to resume. Candidates can submit their applications from September 14 to October 6. According to Dr. Jyoti Bhakere, in-charge Registrar, the revised advertisement outlines eligibility criteria, instructions for previously applied candidates, and details of the recruitment process.

The 111 vacant posts include 32 Professor positions, 32 Associate Professor positions, and 47 Assistant Professor positions. This recruitment drive aims to alleviate the university’s academic and administrative workload, which has been overburdened due to the vacancies.

SPPU Vice-Chancellor Suresh Gosavi emphasized the importance of selecting quality candidates through a meticulous process. “We have appointed a steering committee of experts to ensure error-free recruitment and long-term benefits for the university,” Gosavi said.

With the revised advertisement released before the impending code of conduct for state assembly elections, the interview process is expected to commence within the next two months. SPPU is likely to welcome new faculty members by the new year, bringing relief to the university’s overburdened staff and enhancing its teaching and research capabilities.
